It seems premature to worry about balance issues at the moment, given the scarcity of the components. That being said to address the points made in the various posts on this thread:
1 - New Players Flying T3 This isn't feasible. Support skills and etc. On one hand you're saying anyone with half a brain will not undock it without max'd skills and on the otherhand you're worried about new players? In reality a max skilled T3 pilot compared to a max skilled HAC pilot is no real difference. With all the support skills you need to fly a proper setup its not like you're going to see 2 month old T3 pilots that are beating up everyone. And I disagree about "no one undocks without max'd skills" - that's not true at all. Take any character under 2 years old that does PVP and you're going to see a lot of level 4 "critical skills" barring a few exceptions like falcon alts (who only really need thermodynamics, recon 5 and the ewar skills to 5 due to crappy dps, tank and no drones).
Then add on the price, which even if it was at the same level as recons or hell, interceptors, you're still not going to find 3 month old players throwing them away left and right. The only people who train chars dedicated to single ships with no variations/etc are experienced players running alts.
2- Price Drop This hasn't happened yet and its pointless to debate it until it does. For various reasons I disagree that T3 and T2 will ever be 'nearly the same' in price. Its not really feasible unless you believe the game has an infinite supply of players/demand/isk. Specifically high supply of T3 would lower the price on T2 indirectly, especially if T3 is that much more desirable than T2.
3- The Ships Are Too Strong Right now they're not strong enough. They're only too strong if you look at them compared to what you perceive their price will become. For 2 bil isk right now they're completely not worth it. Let's assume that the price goes down drastically, T2 is now obsolete and T3 is for all intents and purposes infinitely better - fine, fair enough, doomsday scenario. Obviously CCP would just nerf them. Even assuming they didn't, the reality is that except on Sisi and some elements of rare solo fighting - between blobbing, gang composition and raw DPS of a fleet the difference in performance out of a single ship is negligable. Where you're looking at a real 'balance' issue is in solo fights. Who the hell solo fights and expects things to be even anyway? As a sidenote, everyone who has access to T2 will have access to T3, so what's the real balance concern here if they're equally available?
